Please call the campground to register a campsite or cabin! Dogwood Acres is offering a 10% discount off the 2024 rate when you mention you’re with the Penn Coachmen chapter.  Dogwood Acres has graciously offered to hold all sites for us until April 20th, then the sites will be offered to the public and are first come first serve.  Because the following weekend is Memorial Day we encourage you to reserve early! Monday

  • Sightseeing – Free Time – See list of Area Attractions – bottom of page.
  • 10am – noon – Registration at Pavilion
  • 1pm First Timers Meeting in Pavilion
  • Social Hour – If you have any, please add your 1969 memorabilia to the table
  • Catered Dinner.  Theme night!  Dress like 1969!
  • 55th Anniversary Celebration and Memorial Day Presentation (Gary Cipa)
  • Games and/or Campfire

Tuesday

  • Coffee, Juice, Pancake and Sausage Breakfast
  • 10am Seminar on service dogs and their crucial role in the lives of veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with disabilities
  • 1pm Crafting Time with Renee.  Make Flamingo Shell: 
    Fun and easy / 1 hour /  $5.00.  It makes a beautiful ring dish, an ornament, a decoration or give as a gift. 
  • Outdoor Games; Horseshoes, Disc (Frisbee) Golf, Bean Bag Baseball
  • Host Meeting for next rally
  • Chili Dinner with salad and bread
  • Annual membership meeting, then games and/or Camp fire

Wednesday

  • Coffee, Juice and grab and go Breakfast
  • 1pm – Checkout unless prior arrangements with Kristin in the campground office.

Rally Registration:

  • Due date is May 1, 2024.  If registration is postmarked after the due date, there will be an additional $10.00 charge.  
  • Send registration form along with your deposit of $25 per person to be registered. The balance of the rally fee will be collected at check-in.
  • Be sure to indicate number of persons for the catered dinner. 
  • Make check payable to Penn Coachmen.  Please do not send cash.

Camping:

  • Sites: Call Campground for reservations by April 20th, then the sites will be offered to the public and are first come first serve.  Most all sites include Water, Electric and Sewer.  For those without sewer they will perform one free pump out.
  • Cabins/Trailers: They offer 5 cabins and/or new rental trailers for any honorary members that want to join us!
  • Reservations: Make camping or cabin arrangements directly with the campground by calling (717) 776-5203.
  • Payment: The campground will collect the first night deposit by credit card at full price, then will collect the balance from you at check-in, applying 10% off all nights. 
  • Cancellation Policy: They require a 14-day notice for a refund less $25.  If less than that, they offer a 3-month rain check. 

DirectionsGPS may not be correct!  I-81 heading north— Take exit 37-Newville. Make a left onto Rte. 233, head 9 miles north to Rte. 944 –Enola Rd. Make a right turn. Go 2.3 miles to the campground on the left by Big Green Sign (only have one entrance).

Local Attractions:

The Newville Historic District is a national historic district located in Newville, about 5 miles from the campground. The district is bordered roughly by Cove Alley, Big Spring Creek, the right-of-way for the Cumberland Valley Railroad, and Washington Street.  It has several hundred buildings in the central business district and surrounding residential areas spanning construction dates from 1790 to 1950.

Laughlin Mill at 92 E Main St, Newville, PA is 5 miles from the campground.

Meadowbrook Gourds at 125 Potato Road, Carlisle, PA 17015, is about 5 miles from the campground.  They have unique Hand-Crafted Gifts and ornamental crafts. A 200-acre gourd farm where all of our gourds are grown and crafted including a7,000 sq. ft. shop is filled with our gourd designs of all seasons all year round, along with many other artisan crafts, specialty foods, and gifts!  This company produces several lines of Ornamental Gourd decorations and accessories and is considered one of the best Ornamental Gourd suppliers in the country.

Cumberland Valley Rail Trail has a 13 mile rail to trail route from Newville to Shippensburg where there is a Railroad museum. Trail head parking is at 23 Mcfarland St, Newville, PA which is about 6 miles from the campground.  See www.cvrtc.org

Apple Valley Creamery, about 34 miles south of the campground, located at 541 Germany Rd, East Berlin, PA 17316. They have tours of the creamery and farm. See www.applevalleycreamery.com

PA Greek Fest 2024 runs from May 17 to May 19 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral located at 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011.  This is about 32 miles from the campground.  It is a free event Friday & Saturday 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM; Sunday hours to be announced.  See holytrinityhbg.org/pagreekfest/pa-greek-fest/

Colonel Denning State Park, at 1599 Doubling Gap Rd, Newville, PA 17241 is 6 miles north of the campground.  Has hiking of Flat Rock Trail. A little over 2 miles to the top.  1st mile has about 600 ft of elevation, then flat for a bit, and then a bit more climbing to the top. Second half is very rocky. View is spectacular.

Little Buffalo State Park at 1579 State Park Rd, Newport, PA 17074 is 27 miles from the campground. This 923-acre historic park features trails, Holman Lake, a grist mill & Blue Ball Tavern Museum.

Appalachian Trail Museum at 1120 Pine Grove Rd, Gardners, PA 17324 is 17 miles south of the campground. Museum in the Old Mill (by the Appalachian Trail’s midpoint) that traces the trail’s 2000+ miles.  Nearby is the Kings Gap Environmental Center is located at 500 Kings Gap Rd, Carlisle, PA.   

BB’s grocery, an Amish-Owned Discount Grocery Store, is about 14 miles from there.  20 Quigley Rd, Newburg, PA

Army Heritage Center has free admission to the museum located at 950 Soldiers Drive, Carlisle PA.  Exhibits are self guided with in-depth displays, historical photographs, and articles based on primary source research from our archives.

Army War College located at 122 Forbes Ave, Carlisle, PA 17013 has a place for Veterans to shop.

The Gettysburg National Military Park protects and interprets the landscape of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. is 45 miles south.

Lurgan Greenhouse offers much more than just spring flowers and homemade donuts.  It is located 21 miles south east at 8126 Oakdale Rd, Orrstown, PA.  Many who attended Roxbury went here.  Bring cash!
